St. Bernard was one of the areas reportedly to have a lot of people taking refuge of their roofs. Apparently the flooding there is unbelievable.

Is this confirmed information?? My wife's family's home is in Chalmette, and we are trying to find out what's really happening. One minute there are reports of water "pouring into the French Quarter" and the next minute we hear Sheppard Smith telling us there is no flooding at all there. Where is all this false info. coming from??

Wondering exactly where Shep Smith is. Have been watching live feed from news channels and they have been confirming the reports.

This info about St. Bernard is from the Times Picayune but is not confirmed

It's just about a big mess and cluster**** all over the place and also remember most of all the info coming is from second-hand information so these arent comfirmed..nothing will be confirmed until everything clears up

I pray that the damage is not severe as the reports are making it seem

Here's the link to the Times Picayune story which has a round up of conditions reported so far in St. Bernard/Chalmette and other areas of the city.

Though much of NO proper may have escaped the feared flooding areas just to the east will no doubt have reports of bad storm surge IMO as the got the w-ern eyewall in those sections. SE LA and MS coast really got a beating from this storm. Those pictures out of MS when they come will be bad.
