The reporter stated he sees daylight in the dome and it is poring inside.

NO to get eyewall directly?

Looking at the most recent radar images, it looks like New Orleans proper is getting the NW eyewall right now, and will probably be in the eyewall for a couple of hours (due to a move back due N or maybe even ever so slightly W of N) That's awful, even though the storm is probably weakening a bit due to dry air entrainment and land interaction.

8:08 a.m.: Superdome Roof Damaged
Part of the roof at the New Orleans Superdome is gone. A 3-by-5-foot chunk is missing, and people are being ushered off the field of the stadium. A heavy mist is reported inside the Superdome. -- WDSU reporter Travers Mackel

FNC reported that too, remember they are on the W. side of Katrina, they a dodge a titanium bullet, and still getting hammered.

WDSU reporting that a lightning rod has fallen through the hole in the Superdome.

CNN reporting the membrane surronding the superdome has been heavily damaged.

That's the special foam they're talking about. The steel superstructure is still intact.
