Their time is rapidly drawing to a close.

I sincerely hope that all from New Orleans to Pensacola respect this storm system. She has a lot of power, and I fear for the people in Mobile as well, because not only is she intensifying, the wind radius is growing as well.

Easy enough for a little bit of what one of my neighbors calls "The Last Supper" mentality to kick in. You get the boards up, the hotel reservations made, and other preparations made, and discover you feel like you've got a couple of hours left before you either hit the road or man the fortress if you're going to shelter in place (assuming you're actually above sea level)

So you take a little bit of time from that window, and decide it is time to eat, drink, and be merry for a little while, and take one last chance to revisit a favorite place just in case it's gone forever when the storm comes. And then you get in the car and start driving after that.

Looks like they went home (6:25am). I hope they had a sober driver and they are getting out of the area asap.

Nobody on the street. Reminds me a little of the final scene in On the Beach.

I don't think the authorities need to give anyone a hammering. It's their problem.....let them take the responsibility.

If someone wants to ride out a Cat. 5 in a houseboat, let them.

I was just watching Fox News. One of the reporters was on Bourbon St. outside a bar. A couple of men were walking their dogs. The reporter asked why they were still here and not taking shelter. One man said on international TV " None of your f#@*$ng business. There's a man who's just asking for it. People were in bars drinking. Town must be full of stupidheads. :x

Did you all hear the report on Bourbon Street from Fox about 30 minutes ago? The reporter saw I group of people with cups in their hand walking a dog and the reporter asked one of tthem"what are you still doing here?" The reply on live TV...."None of your F*** business!".

They’ll go sleep it off, wake up for coffee and notice the weather suddenly going down-hill and by the time they realise there may be a little problem with their safety assessment it'll be night again.

Drunk and stupid is no way to go through a hurricane like this.

Let's hope these fools die either happy in their fog or clutching thier porceline god, finally now praying that they won't ever be so stupid again.

There is no excuse for such idiocy.

One thing that this episode shows is how reporters sometimes try too hard for a story. They should have know that was fixing to happen.

I'm still seeing the occasional person on this webcam. Incredible. To the left across the street is a bar that's still open. I just saw an image of a guy crossing the street at 8:42 p.m. central time.

These people are going to die. I can't believe they are so stupid.

The streets were mostly empty, but I saw a man go through the garbage can and a couple cars on the street
