History in the making?
Katrina may be the next category 5 at landfall and could be stronger than Camille was at landfall.

Speaking of history does anyone know where I can find a track map of Camille? Since they started jogging this thing east it makes me wonder if it will follow her path. I have cousins about 2 blocks from the beach in Long Beach who are staying. I know we have tried to talk them into leaving but because they survived Camille in that house they think they can survive anything I guess. I am really scared for them.

So millions of people are in danger and your main concern is their conversion to fundamentalist Christianity?

Go to "Historical Storms"
From there, find Camille. You might want to slow it down (Which can be done to the right) to see exactly what happen. Camille hit with 165 MPH winds to the east of New Orleans.
This is history in the making. Anyone else have their TV stuck on The Weather Channel?

We are facing potentially one of the worst natural disasters in our history. It is obvious from news reports that there are still A LOT of people remaining in New Orleans and its environs. In the aftermath there may be a need for mass rescues, evacuations and there is liable to be chaos, looting, etc. And the best and brightest of our military is on the other side of the globe. Great.

The historic significance of this storm is such that my children will not be taking classes tomorrow (homeschooled).
All 3 of them are rabid storm chasers and huge meteorology nuts. I do believe they will be learning a quite a bit about human nature, mother nautre, and the fragility of life.

I was thinking the same thing when I suggested deuce and 1/2s evacuating those who can't. You know that regardless of where many of our military people are, there are always the ready brigades of the 82nd and 101st. Would not be the least surprised if they are not already on alert status for this major catastrophe.
