Thunderchief, you are referring to the forever infamous Camille hurricane party of Pass Christian, MS.
Two survived after the 3-story reinforced concrete block apartment building was swept away. If I recall corrrectly, one was rescued from a tree about 10 miles inland from where that apartment complex was, two days after the hurricane.

Just watched a TV report on 4WWL of a whole series of people in the path of this storm, who are adamant they'll weather this storm on ... their house boats. Almost all of these people are going to drown in the opening stages of this storm's passing.
It’s going to be a powerful lesson, illustrating the crucial importance of not only having a perfectly functional brain, but of using it appropriately in a useful way.
The authorities need to give these people a verbal hammering for being so ... foolish, ... and they need to do it now (though they are no doubt currently far too busy to waste their time on dedicated fools).

Probably decided to do it after the last punter left - money over saftey issue incase the insurance doesn't come through fast! Or maybe someone actullay turned on a weather channel or alerted them to Storm 2k? Well better late and never and lets hope they are heading straight of town now and not staying put!

Those people are standing around. They should be trying to find a way out.... I wish I could be mad at them, but hell I even know what they're saying. They're not scared. Maybe one of them is. The rest are laughing and joking about how everyone is spazzing out. Someone brings up they're a bit nervous. Everyone nervously laughs at them. This is the party town. Drink up.
