I know he's the brunt of a lot of jokes and many don't care for him. I happen to think he's a pretty good meteorologist. He speaks to us amateurs in a language we can understand. :)

I also think he's aware of the older retired population here on the MS coast, and does his best to keep folks well informed without causing a mass panic.

He does not follow the NHC when it comes to hurricanes. And WHY has WLOX not started their continuous coverage yet?

Don't know, WLOX is another matter, they've always been third rate imo.

Agreed but let me say this If Reader gets Concerned (as he did tonight) that means something! Mikes could about Staying calm but tonight I could see the Worry in his face and He actually used the "C" name to compare Possible path/strength

Reader isn't bad - he tries to keep the sensationalism out of his reporting.
Many can't seem to do that these days.

I have received MORE evac info for MS on wkrg. WLOX has nothing. They also reported all school closings. This is a Mobile station.

WLOX, as a whole, leaves a lot to be desired. They just got bought out,
so maybe that will change.

Reader can't control the news folks, nor the programming. That's where
the problem is.

I think Mike Reader does ok reporting the daily weather but when it comes to situations such as this he is quite an alarmist... Or drama king? I remember my first hurricane experience was with Hurricane Andrew, I was very young, newly married and my husband was deployed out of the country. I was essentially here all by myself and scared to death. Mike Reader did nothing to calm my fears... he even made it worse. I thought for sure I was gonna die, now I can look back on it and laugh but at the time it was the most nervewrecking thing I had ever been through. I think Mike needs to calm down and just report on what the NHC is saying then he would be alright!

I think Mike's okay. He used to be with the Hurricane Hunters before WLOX. I remember his first storm - Elena - when he was "THE GUY" on air virtually the whole time - he was like a kid in a candy store. As for WLOX, been owned by the same guy for so long (Jimmy Love) that he can't see the need for any changes. Thus, Channel 13 has not really changed or improved for a long, long time. But, I still think Mike's alright...
