I am watching now via the web. I don't like the director of emergency management services' tone. He is urging people to leave New Orleans.

But that's a good thing, right? That he's urging peeps to leave? I think he just wants peeps to take this thing seriously and not get dead.

Is THAT Carl Arredondo??? Geez.. I went to college with him. Me and two other girls got caught in his and his roommates room after curfew!! (it was all innocent, btw - his roomate was jumping up and down on the beds - it was VERY near the end of the year)

Wow.. he wasn't NEARLY as gray then!! He had more hair too!!

Sorry - off topic - just taking a brief trip down memory lane!!

Just wanted to say Congrats to John Gumm. Meteorologists at WWLTV. In such a horrible time and time where he is mostly needed. His wife went in labor tonight.

Congratulations to him but we really need him at this point, with a Cat 4 storm forecast to directly hit us.

Yes, Mello1. That is a good thing. I am glad to see people heeding the warnings.

I'm curious. Just where is that WWL studio located in which those smiling talking heads are broadcasting from? And how long will THEY stay there?

If thats BillCapo, he's not a met.... he's our action reporter filling in for the understaffed WWL weather center.

David Bernard: gone to Miami.

John Gumm: at the hospital with his wife in labor.

That just leaves Karl A.

Sean in NO said in another thread that they were flying in an exmet. from WWL, but for some reason the name sounds familiar but I cannot remember him.

I can tell the female anchor is very nervous. I feel sorry for those people who are stuck in the newsroom.

To those of you able to watch the coverage, please throw us a tidbit of info. now and then. I would just like to know a little more of what is happening in the city right now.

I don't have cable TV or a fast enough connection to watch any of the online video.

I have a long-time friend who is in Merrero, Jefferson Parrish. As of 7pm last night she stubbornly had no plans to leave. No one has been able to reach her via cell phone today. Very worried!
