I am posting this for Houstonia who is having trouble posting tonight, we both thought it was very important:
Be aware that I-10 in BOTH DIRECTIONS will be closed in Houston until 5 a.m. Monday morning. This is between the Washington and Silber exits and includes the entrance and exits from the 6-10 Loop.
Sorry if this has already been posted!
P.S. I-45 in Houston is continually under construction as is I-10, as is 59, as is the Tollroads.
Basically avoid Houston if at all possible.
Houstonia.

WRONG WRONG WRONG......people, if you need to come to Houston please do so. Lots of hotels on the east and south side of town. This closer is on the WEST side of Houston. So far west thats its NOT important. I-45 is under construction near Galveston, I travel the toll roads everyday of my life and they are NOT underconstruction.
Please refrain from making posts like this when you are getting second hand information....

The construction is on the west side of Houston. They have had major delays there all day. If you are going west of Houston, would be best to use the South Beltway 8 toll road and go around the city and pick up I-10 west of the construction...

BreinLa, though the concern for myself it minimal at this moment, I appreciate you passing along information for others. I can guarantee that if I-10 is closed both directions on the West side of Houton, those entering from the east will experience tie ups and such. Your message did nothing to discourage people from heading that direction, but seemed to be a PSA.
For those needing a place to go...I thank you

Excuse me, _I_ am the original poster of this message. I certainly did not mean that people were not WELCOME In Houston. I meant, that there ARE going to be major travel tie-ups. I live in Houston - I did NOT get the information second-hand, and I really resent you saying that I did.
By the way Rock - Channel 13 said tonight that all the hotels are booked up in Baytown and all points east of there. If people want to get into Houston, they will have to come into or thru town.
And yes - I-45 is under construction - down toward Galveston. The beltway is under construction west of town and 59 is under construction through downtown. All heavily traveled area.

Well lets see...To quote: Basically avoid Houston....that is what set me off. Major tie-ups?? on a Sunday?? let me say getting thru town is not that hard if you are taking the beltway east and around to other cities south of Houston. Like Pasadena, Pearland, Laporte, ect ect......they all have hotels.
The point is, the post suggested that Houston was not the place to seek refuge because of a major interstate closure. It did not mention that was on the west side of town...Thus it was misleading. The other construction is irrevelant when it comes to getting around here.
Maybe if the thread was titled: I-10 closure on the west side of Houston...IMO

I am locking this thread. It is not a weather discussion any longer or should I say an information post. It is a blame fest. I-10 IS CLOSED AT THE POINT INDICATED AND THERE ARE MAJOR TIE UPS IN THAT AREA. The rest of Houston is moving quite well and the ways pointed out around the tie up are good ones. Past this there needs to be no more discussion in this thread.
