yeah and one of the tracks puts it right over my house in 96 hours. and it looked like 4 or 5 would put it about 35-50 miles away from me, great news for a drought stricken area of Southern IL/IN/KY. But really bad news for NOLA.

much better chance that new orleans doesnt see 145mph than they will.....probably 100-1

to get 145 the storm would have to landfall to the sw at the exact right spot for the ne eyewall to pass over....and it would have to landfall at around 165-170mph to account for the weakening due to 75 miles of land.

This will not be the nightmare scenario which is a slow moving storm approaching from the SE. NOLA can handle a storm coming up from the south.

Depends on cycle

Those that bring up distance inland, remember that surface is at or below sea level and nt much resistance to break down sorm for several hours after landfall. Also, it will depend on whether Katrina is in an intensification period when she hits NOLA. No mater what, the winds, raind, and sea waer that strikes NOLA have the potential for catastrophic effects whetehr WE want tem to or not.

Despite comments I have heard about using Superdome as shelter, I think that ALL personnel should be mandatorily removed from NOLA unless some unexpected MIRACLE takes place.

These are just my humble opinions.

I never said Katrina will not have an impact on NOLA. However, it will not be the total destruction that people have been hyping. At the absolute worst, NOLA will be up and running again in a couple month's time.

I have no doubt NOLA will be up an running in no time. I'm just concerned about east of NOLA, due west of NOLA, etc. This storm will not concentrate completely on NOLA. East or west of NOLA, Biloxi, Mobile, it's going to be tough. And I'm sorry and praying for you!
