I think they can breath somewhat easier. Still not out of it but looks like LA or MS will get this.

east/west........models will continue to shift back and forth over the next few days. We just need to be ready and have a plan. I still see a hit in the area from al/ms border to destin. That does not mean anyone from new orleans to PC should let guard down........we all need to be ready.

These models are starting to congeal and these minor shifts are really not all that important. if you live anywhere from Panama City, FL westward to New Orleans you should prepare as if Katrina was walking up your sidewalk. We all remember Charley's sudden turn last year and Katrina has proven to be in one of those environments that she could swing either way from now till landfall.

Ivanhater: agreed. It really doesn't matter exactly WHERE this thing comes ashore, it will be really bad for somebody. It could be me, it could be you. You just never know.

I haven't been up very long so I haven't looked at the size of this storm but is it the size of Frances yet or do you believe it may be the size of Frances when it reaches the Gulf Coast?

Not much of one...NHCA98 doesn't count for model shifting.

I feel your pain ivanhater...my stomach is in knots as I watch these events unfold - left right left right....reminds me of waiting for Ivan. I live out in Perdido Key - let me just say we still have not recovered from Ivan. I hate the uncertainty...enough to make me want to get out of here for good.... :(

Take it easy on Ivanhater...the slightest shift totally affects us and we are too bruised and battered to bear it....

Everyone try to be sensitive to the uncertainty that this situation is in right now.
People are going to grasp onto any information that they can and we all need to respect the stress levels that rightfully exist.
