Minute of Thought for the Small Towns of SE LA
While New Orleans is the big deal on here, lets think about the small areas also. Such as our fishing metropolis, barrier island, Grand Isle. Also Port Fourchon is another biggie. Can you say high gas prices? Also my favorite place Hopedale/Shell Beach. The entire Breton Sound estuary which is EAST OF NEW ORLEANS. Lets think about our fellow fishermens livelyhoods. Fishing is our biggest claim to fame and billion dollar industries. If Katrina comes this way as powerful as forecast the landscape will be changed forever, thousands will loose their businesses and only source of income. A little further westward track(say 90.6' or so)and Grand Isle and Fourchon will dissapear from the maps along with other towns such as Leeville and Golden Meadow. This is very bad and unforunately looks to be getting worse by the hour.

Katrina could wipe 3/4 of these terminals off the map!![]()
With Dr. Bill Teague finding 90 foot waves with Ivan, indications are the
waves are MUCH bigger in major hurricanes, we've never measured them
until Ivan.
This would be beyond catastrophic for the offshore rigs.
No, the 90 foot waves don;'t reach the coast - that's a deep open water
event. It will lead to a massive storm surge - remember the Pansacola
Bay Bridge?

I hate to even say this but I would rather take the storm than let places like Venice take it because it is going to knock them off of the map. I know that is saying a lot and I don't want a storm period but if she goes where forecast at the moment I am worry for those in the barrier islands like Venice, etc.
So saying a prayer for all of those in the path.
