The local channel 7 met in Baton Rouge is really concerned also. He thinks the north turn is to soon and will not happen as quick as the current forecast shows. Says the ridge is too strong and the trough will not weaken the ridge as much as current thinking.Trough will not dig as far south.

Take comfort in the example set by the Cayman Islands...were there's money to be made, the recovery money will follow. The casino industry will be hurt if Katrina hits the MS coast, but trust me, it will bounce back in no time.

A direct hit from a cat 5 would likely do it. On the other hand, if the industry survived the impact, I'm guessing it would be the impetus to eventually lead to land-based casinos. Let's face it, floating your whole economy on barges off coastal MS is a huge gamble to start with. Something's going to have to give.
