Will there be anything left......

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

sorry...this dramatization was just over the line.

You're joking, of course.

Dixie, unfortunatley I don't think djil was joking. Based on his/her previous posts of the same ilk. :grrr: Amazing how some people just cannot get a grip on the destructiveness of these so called "Tropical Storms" that right now is a Cat 1 Hurricane. And let us not forget that many people have not taken precautions in the Keys with basic hurricane preparedness. How many times last year did they evac the Keys for something way less then this??? I am very concerned for those located in these areas. I knew there was a reason I was getting those "icky" feelings last week about this storm. Those gut feelings that make ones guts churn. Praying for the safety of all right now.

well.. it digitls defence.... "Will there be anything left of the Keys" is
kind of over the line... lets be fair. It is a strong TS/minimal Hurricane.
The Keys and survived WAY WAY more powerfull storms. The correct
answer to the question would be "Yes... there will be most of, if not all of
the Keys left. but I think it was a retorical question.... JMHO

Whoa. Gust of 86 MPH reported by a ship on the hook off Key West. I can't imagine a ship anchored off KW but that was the radio report.

Gust of 79 reported on Sugarloaf.

Oh please..... that comment is WAY over the top. I lived in the Key's in the late 90's (several storms there..) and lived in the direct path of Andrew in 92. Yes Katrina is a Cat1 and yes there wil be damage, but the Key's have had MUCH worse....

A little less sensationalism and a bit more “reality” would be nice…

I don't know if the Sugrloaf report was from on the O/S Hyw. It was reported from a private home weather station.

Yes, we have weathered MUCH worse than this. This ain't no big thing. I would venture to say most folks in the Keys are better prepared for storms than most people. Preps are a part of life down here.

Just spoke to my father...said some serious flooding happening in his part of KW (Northside Drive area).

This is a guy who went through Andrew, Georges, etc....and he sounds a bit concerned. Not really about the wind, but apparently it is raining buckets down there right now).
