Will the name Katrina be retired?

I say yes at already 4 deaths related to the system haved occured.Also plenty of damage in parts of South Florida caused by flooding and very high wind gusts.

Gaston didn't get retired and caused more deaths. Of course, there is another landfall to go, and if it hits hard like I expect, it will probably be retired. If it is to be retired, it will be likely due to it's next landfall imho.

I Have to agree. BUT, if this one continues to strengthen it has alot time to get much stronger. Hopefully not.

Irene killed 14 in South Florida in 1999 as a Cat1, but wasn't retired. However, if Katrina makes landfall as a major up in the Panhandle, she'll probably be retired. She's a nasty one, for sure.

Based only on Katrina's first landfall, it won't be retired. But if it makes a devastating second landfall like I fear, it very well could be replaced with Kendra, Katherine, or some other name. (just not Kathryn, for very personal reasons)

I believe the second factor will determine retirement or not. And right now, it's looking very possible that Katrina could reach Ivan-like strength within the next few days.

GOOD. I know a girl named Kathryn and she has a very foul temper when she can't drink beer (and she likes to drink lots of it and she's not even 21 yet). One of the most obnoxious people I have ever known.

I cannot fathom what Hurricane Kathryn would be like just based on that.

Please, if Katrina must get retired (God forbid but unfortunately it may if its second landfall is bad enough), let Kendra, Kelly, Kimberly, or something else replace it.
