Upper Keys -- OK

#1 Postby Recurve » Fri Aug 26, 2005 8:27 am

Dave here, just got up after a few hours sleep, dog and I are OK.

Back yard a mess of palm fronds and a few big gumbo-limbo branches. One screen blew off the porch, south side of house is plastered with leaves. Going to go out soon and see how the boat is.

The worst for us must have been after in bands that came through after the eye was west. Was it worse than I expected? Yes, because the eye came a lot closer than the forecast track, but OTOH, not really. Hurricane gusts can break a lot of trees. I already knew Kat wouldn't be a "dud."

And I have power this morning; thank you FKEC. Looks like I got 4-6 inches more rain.

The sound of the wind was awesome and frightening.

If I get any news on the rest of the Keys from local radio, I'll try to post it.
