Why just pray for Pensacola?!?!?!? You should pray or everybody along the eastern and central GOM coastline. It is way too early to say it's going there. I think everyone should pray for anyone possibly receiving Katrina's next landfall.

stromcenter.............the point of the post was that the pensacola area has been hit already by two major huuricanes in less than a year and by at least three tropical storms. Another major cane would just be too much is all. No one wishes any to be hurt and so on............but how many people have you seen post here from Houston beg for a cane.
Be nice to see the storm die but it wont happen since she is the Gulf now.............someone will be hit and it's starting to look like the central gulf area. We all will have a better idea by Sat AM

Pensacola -- I will definately pray for you. Both Ivan and Dennis were headed straight for Mobile and both turned at the very very last minute. Even this morning the NHC has Katrina headed straight for us at 72 hours -- then the sharp turn East. Do I pay to have the windows boarded or not, do I pay for the room at the NH for my parents or not --- it's all so expensive and I'm sick of it. You, in Pensacola, do all that preparation and then also receive the terrible damage. I think it's time for Mobile/Pensacola to be able to sit back and watch one of these GOM storms move into some other area with never the first thought of potential landfall anywhere near us. Of course, we don't want anyone hurt by a storm, but we're tired of being in the headlines.

At some point you would think we will have reached our breaking point here in Pensacola. Maybe most all ready have? I know it sounds strange, but I do feel, and I am sure I am not the only one in town to feel this way, this storm will impact us here in some way. Even if it is only my wife making me put up the plywood for the third time in a year. Seemingly small stuff like that, storm or no storm, is almost enough to drive ya to drinking. We will do what we can here in Pensacola, but I am relying on God not only to protect us, but to also know what is best for us.

get outta my head, will ya!
But as we already know, unless there's a powerful trof and that ridge just falls apart...
The FL coast from Tampa south shouldn't expect a major...
But we sure could have Ivan-like results.
(with the hope that if Kat moves nice and slow, some upwelling could inhibit development)

I agree with you. I lived in pensacola all my life and moved over one county in May of 04 just to face Ivan and Dennis. I think this storm will head more west than what the NHC has for now...........been watching models shift........I think anything from Ms/Al border to Destin will be fair game. I am about to go and at least buy gas........have the boards still from Ivan that I will put up if needed come sunday. I do think thats hwta I will be doing that day now

I agree, although I don't wish this on anyone else, this region cannot withstand another Major. There are no beaches left, no dunes and many roads are exposed to the ocean. The water line here in Destin is within 20ft. of most homes along the coast. A Cat. 2 could do destruction surge wise what it would have taken a Cat. 4 prior to Ivan, there just simply is no beach left to absorb some of the surge. On top of that there is still alot of blue tarps on roofs and debris still laying around, missiles for the winds.
This is the time of year for the most destructive of hurricanes, Andrew, Camille, e.t.c... and with Katrina to be over SST's of near 90 degrees for 3 days and UL winds very favorable it could be one for the records. I pray not, but reality of what the potential herein lies slaps me in the face.
Looks like a Major coming to me and somewhere between P'Cola and Panama City.

There major storms within one year? Has that ever happened anywhere before? I think this could be the last straw for most people. IF Katrina comes this way I think the beach is doomed. Also, there are still many weakened structures around and I don't see them withstanding another major storm. Time will tell.

man can we not win down here or what?
This is getting a little crazy. I live in Gulf Breeze, I left for Ivan and came back to a beautiful new skylight (aka no roof), stayed for Dennis (played in the rain like a moron lol)
But damn.....this COULD be 3 MAJOR Hurricanes in less then one year.
I dont know who we pissed off in the world but damn could we get a break? I dont want anyone to get hurt by this but I got to see why Ivan did to the area and the damage dennis did to the much smaller area it effected.
My house FINALLY got all the Ivan/Dennis stuff repaired as of last week.
The whole wait and see stuff sucks. I have to leave this time if it comes right for us since I sold my truck and have a nice low to the ground car now. I need a vacation but not this bad!
Good luck everyone keep your eyes open. Still to early to say 100% but its not looking pretty.......
Oh yea those in the Pcola/NW FL area go fill gas tank up the gas tank on the cars soon..... will prob run out again in the next day or two MAX! I think gulf breeze will be empty by sat afternoon...

We appreciate all the prayers and good wishes from everyone. Hopefully we'll make it through ONE more time, if indeed we have too endure Katrina. My best wishes to everyone in South Florida for their speedy recovery. We certinaly know what its like to be without power for days and days and how hard it is to clean up debris outside in the heat and humidity. Good luck to everyone in the path...no matter what part of the gulf coast you call home.

I'm sorry I see your point. I know they've had to endure a lot the last few years in that area. Again my apologies those good folks in Pensacola.
