pressure from the eye, which is right overhead of NHC is 984mb....WOW a 1mb drop since landfall

it's over the Everglades so don't expect much weakening tonight....it will reemerge into the GOM later tonight/tomorrow AM on the WSW track and then intensify over the 90F SW GOM waters.

I agree with that entirely Boca Chris...Very similar to Irene in 1999. I lived in Stuart at the time and Irene snuck up to us from the SW and was still a cane when it got to us. I don't think she will weaken much while she is in the glades.

It's not that the hurricane has dropped its pressure ON land. Rather, this indicates that the pressure at landfall was LOWER than 984 mb. It is quite likely that the last drop into the hurricane missed the true center of the eye when it reported 986 mb. A 982-983 mb hurricane at landfall is likely and that will have to be analyzed later.
