GFDL had a good idea?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

GFDL had a good idea?

#1 Postby dhweather » Thu Aug 25, 2005 7:35 pm

The GFDL had KAtrina moving wsw/sw through the keys.

Well, it's moving wsw - perhaps the GFDL was onto something here.

With EVERYTHING in that loop moving quite well east to west, whatever is going to move Katrina so abruptly right must be a real monster that hasn't even come on scene yet.... Might be time to do a special edition GUTS... :)

The SAME exact thought went through my mind earlier. Can you imagine this storm doing this 50 miles to the EAST? It would have been a NIGHTMARE scenario because it would have STILL be likely strengthening while moving southward just off the coast.

Now that it's inland, it only means MORE rain and flooding...

It had a Cat 3 or 4 forecasted as well. So it's not so good on intensity.

Well, if the GFDL had completely verified, it probably would bet a cat 2/3

It would have been over HOT water for longer, and *boom*.
