Asplunda on its way!

#1 Postby sponger » Thu Aug 25, 2005 12:43 pm

I saw a convoy of 25-30 trucks heading South from Jacksonville at 11:00. For all you S Floridians about to lose power, help is already on the way. Kind of scary how good we are getting at this hurricane business. This state has gone from the least prepared to the best in 1 year!

Yep...I saw Pike out of North Carolina early this morning on I-75 heading that way. Very reminiscent of Frances and Jeanne last year... Helps on the way!!! hope they plan on coming back this way in a few days!

I agree! I am real impressed Pike is already rolling. Those guys love Florida overtime. I understand it is double their base pay!

Question is when are the gas trucks going to roll and how is this storm going to effect shipping coming in? Reports are no coming out that south Florida is running out of gas again. :(

The governor needs to call a state of emergency so that we don't start getting price gouging. I don't think it will happen until/if Katrina gets into the Gulf and intensifies and is aiming for Florida again. He may then call SOE.... until then, gas will probably be higher because of the storm and the upcoming Labor Day holiday

Well, with the price hikes, it's kinda expected they do something.

Seems like S Fl is always running out of gas. If a Cat 1 empties the stations, Imagine another Andrew. Time for a few strategic reserves around the state. We can't have an evacuation order stalled because of low gas supplies.

A funny side note to tonights action, coming home from work tonight I saw what is likely those same Pike trucks from previous post on I 95 south of Jacksonville at 8:30. They have the oldest trucks but god bless them! Tell your friends without power the cavalry has arrived!
