Over Half The Names Used Before August 31!

#1 Postby abajan » Wed Aug 24, 2005 9:09 pm

Considering that the 2nd half of most seasons is more active than the 1st and Katrina is the 11th of the 21 names assigned, could this be the year that we see TS/Hurricane Alpha? Unless conditions (favorable phase of MJO, low shear, warm waters etc.) change drastically, I think it's a realistic possibility.

Thoughts, anyone?

(Sorry, I know there's already thread on this somewhere but I couldn't find it.)

THIS IS NOT A FORECAST

It would pretty nice (as long as it doesn' cause catastrophic damage to anyone on the basin, of course) , but I doubt it. Chances are high we may end up with another "boring" October, after all.

Well, if in September we have around 7 named storms, then around 3 in October, and 1 in November, that will put us at around 22 named storms; Alpha are you there? By the way, I'm not counting the real possibility that Lee could form in the next 24 to 36 hours.
