looks like the outer bands are moving out from the center and into South FL much quicker than we expected...look for very squally weather to begin when they arrive.

Theres not going to be a whole lot of time to prepare if you haven't done so.

I'm afraid everything is going to go quicker than expected, Chris.

no, look at the Miami NWS long range and movement of the center is almost WNW nearly W...the convection makes it look like it is going NNW though.

We've had thunder, big cloud lines. on and off rain today in the Upper Keys. Wind at Molasses reef is NNW 11 k, gusts to 15. Weather is deteriorating. No strong squalls though. yet.

I'm thankful we are just south of the hurricane watch area.

You can get condition reports from the reef stations. Here is the one off Key Largo:

I hope I see some squalls. Not holding my breath. I'll be on the wimpy south side of yet another storm.

yeah Miami will be on the S. side but it should get some good W and NW winds, albeit not off the tropical Atlantic where they are stronger.

Lol Patrick Miami always seems to get screwed over ever since Andrew. At least you guys got some good bands from Dennis.

The outer effects are starting here.

The first pounding rains. I was just over on the bayside, weird dark clouds in bands, Cumulonimbus with "feet", lightining and thunder. I'm right about where that northern convection band is in the previous radar pic, but that was just a shower. Now it's raining hard, thunder rumbling, rain getting really strong. Radar shows a narrow band coming off the mainland over the Upper Keys.

Conditions at Molasses Reef:

Wind Speed (WSPD): 0 kts
Wind Gust (GST): 1 kts
Atmospheric Pressure (PRES): 29.86 in
Pressure Tendency (PTDY): +0.00 in ( Steady )
Air Temperature (ATMP): 83.1 °F
Water Temperature (WTMP): 87.3 °F

I'll follow with the dark eerie skies. I drove from roughly I-95 and mcnab (exactly between commercial and oakland), and kept checking the rear view, watching the eerie weird clouds. No other way to put it. Heard thunder several times in the afternoon at work, but no rain out west for me here near the sawgrass and mcnab.

Yup. Call me intensely skeptical on this one. So far, I haven't seen so much as a drop of rain. Right now, the wind in Pinecrest is about as slack/still as it can get......certainly not what one would expect with this *horrific big panic-worthy Tropical Event* sitting just across the 'Stream in the Bahamas.

I said from the very beginning, when TD 10 died, that we *might* eventually see the effects of a very weak TS from this, and I think I'm going to be right.

Yes, it hasn't hit the Gulfstream yet, and Andrew re-intensified to Cat. 5 strength over the Gulfstream......the '35 hurricane bombed over the Gulfstream, but come on, let's be realistic. This is a weak TS with barely any convection at the moment. Thankfully, people in my area are not giving in to hype. The Publix on US 1 near Perrine, and Wild Oats in Pinecrest were doing utterly normal business this evening.

It is always deathly quiet, unbelievably humid, and calm before the storm. It's not just an expression.

Before the first squall this evening, the bay was smooth as a mirror and I was sweating through my shirt just standing outside. It's been pretty stormy here since then, with a break for the last hour or so.

Not necessarily.
If it continues due West or slightly South of due West; Miami gets more than expected.

I read where Bryan Norcross said it might be a bit WSW in movement. Read in the Hourly Updates Channel 4 Miami thread.
