Anyone think that we might require a TS Watch on this side of Fl?

Defintely... NHC appears to keep it a storm until after it crosses. At the very least, there will be a watch.

Agreed. After it emerges into the GOM even if it's moving away it will still affect the Western coast.

Yes i think it should. I mean its common sense if it remains ts strength there would need to be wanring obviusly if it still has ts conditions once in the fl penn. But we shall see in time. Prolly a watch or so by 5am tommorrow if strengthining continues. I would think IMo

Not time yet. They just issued a watch for Lake Okeechobee. Probably will be tomorrow morning.

One of our local mets Dennis Phillips.. said this COULD move right up the west coast after entering the GOM. That would be interesting to say the least.

So..I mean, even the NHC tracks take it as a TS over the West Coast, and their projection takes the storm directly over Western Collier County.

Katrina will have to get a lot stronger, before Naples has Hurricane Gusts.

Yes...

Frances was a strong 2 at landfall and just had a few hurricane force gusts over in the Tampa area... so this is going to have to be stronger than currently forecast to do the same.

okay haha sorry...I thought for some reason they said 60 knots, it's 60 mph gusts and 69 mph gusts in Immokallee..okay so...expect strong TS conditions I suppose then..right Ron??

Well, that's old news, (no pun). The latest NHC track takes Katrina a smidge North of Naples.

Agreed. 0500 tommorrow for sure. I would not be suprised to see hurricane watches by Friday afternoon either. This is going to be one tricky forecast once it hits the GOM and those 90 degree SSTs.

Any ideas about conditions in Tampa around 8 pm Friday? My wife's supposed to arrive on a flight home then. :)
