ALL S2K MEMBERS PLEASE READ!!!

#1 Postby Rainband » Tue Aug 23, 2005 12:28 pm

It is again beginning to get busier in the Tropical Atlantic. With more action in the Tropics, the Board is beginning to become active as well. With membership at 6000 and growing, S2K has become one of the most popular Spots on the Net. We hope this trend continues.

While we are on the subject of trends..we are seeing a trend that is not a positive one developing on S2K. When you all joined S2K you were given a set of rules and those rules are taken very seriously by the Staff of S2K. We have noticed an increase in negative posts and Flames in the past few days and this will not be tolerated. S2K is run differently than many other weather sites and that is one of the things that separates us from the rest. We take pride in the management of this site and care about our members.

While we watch S2K grow and improve, we are pleased that you have chosen S2K as your one stop Weather home. While we are happy to have over 6000 members we would be just as happy to have a few less if everyone cannot follow the rules.

S2k is a diverse community of individuals with different levels of weather knowledge. The common thread we all share is our passion for weather. The key is respect. Respect others and they will respect you.

On behalf of the Staff of S2K
Welcome to our Site and thanks for helping make S2K The legal Addiction

Wonderfully said, Jonathan!! This is a topic that will hopefully fall on the appropriate ears. Agreeably, there has been a marked difference this year compared to others, but with your and the other mods' increased attention to this issue, S2K will certainly - and thankfully - get back to its good old self. My thanks to you and the rest for providing us with this "one-stop-shop" for all our wx needs...

Good going! I for one and I know several others have been watching some of the newer posters get away with murder in here for awhile. I'm glad it's finally being addressed and handled. I'm really happy to see our membership grow but there are 4 or 5 that have recently joined that we could do without. Agreeing to disagree with respect is what it's all about. Know it all attitudes don't work well in this place especially when you haven't proven you know what your talking about.

Oh, PLEEZE.
The warning alone is enough. Do we need all of the "Yeah, what they said" and "I'm a cutie, but those others have been bad" jump-ons? No... no we don't.

I actually do agree with this commet. To put it nicer, there's no need to be piling on to this thread like that. I have no problem with being nicer to folks here, however, I don't want members on this board to get overly sensitive to commets that are little emotional or even a bit sarcastic. You can still show respect. It's hard not to debate what you believe in, without showing some emotion in your commets. This is not Mister Rogers Neighborhood. This is how people talk in real life.

 sigh
Thanks for posting this. And now a question...noticing the board is loaded...can we help by getting rid of our avatars or something like last year to ease up the load a bit?

1 minute later - laughing...never mind!

Remember most of us are not weather experts per se; there are ALOT of folks that come here for information and to ask questions. They wont come back if they get flamed or ridiculed or if they see others getting flamed or ridiculed.

Just posting an announcement on the board is not going to stop the nonsense.
The only way to stop it is through disciplinary action.Suspend the violators for a while and let them realize what they are missing. When they are allowed back, if these flamers continue their antics, ban them.Just paying lip service will never solve anything.
I realize I don't have to come to Storm2K,when I do I want it to be an informative and pleasant experience.

As the staff have stated before, the members of this site have no idea how much goes on behind the scenes. Trust me, we are not just paying lip service!!!!
