The new wave coming off of Africa, it looks large but it looks like the activity is behind the portion coming off first. Dies anyone one have any idea what they think it may do. I also noticed that the storms coming across Africa are farther south than before, will this have an impact on how they develop when they reach the Atlantic.

Generally squall lines move ahead of the wave axis and that is why we see big blobs of convection emerge but dont be fooled as the axis of wave is behind.

Thanks cycloneye that explains a lot I never quite understood about what happens when the waves move off the coast, it is almost like a bad thunderstorm when it looks the worst is when the darkest clouds are moving overhead and once they pass is when you get hit with the real fury of the storm.
