If You Could Go Back In Time

#1 Postby Janice » Mon Aug 22, 2005 4:27 pm

You said something or did something to someone that you never forgot. It may have been yesterday or 40 years ago. What is that one thing you did or said to someone that you would like to apologize for today?

If I could go back in time... I'd change the way I acted toward George. I would have listened harder, taken the time to see underneath the hardened exterior to see the truth about a man who loved me. I would have wiped the tear, kissed the cheek, and said no still, but tempered with compassion and empathy, for now I know too, how hard it is to love someone who doesn't love you back. Although I was kind, if I could go back in time, I would be kinder still, now that I've tasted that brand of pain.

He sent for me a few years back, from a sick bed he would never arise from. I went to him as soon as I heard, but he was comatose by then. I smoothed his hair, I put lotion on his hands, I talked to him for hours, and then I held his hand as he died.

If I could go back in time... If only I could...

"If I could go back in time" would not have mattered, if
I reasoned the same way, and, believed the same way that
I did then.

NOW....if we're talking going back and knowing then
what I know now....ahhhh....it would have made a
world of difference on two bad marriages! I'd of been mature
enough to see the red alert lights flashing!

But, I have to see my mistakes, now, and, learn to live with
them, and, not end up on the same sinking boat.

I really thought about this question. Really. I think, other
than bad marriages, I'm ok with all of the rest of it. I think
I've done ok with everything else!
