Actually at the very end of the article it states that property damage was at $159 million which would be $1.26 billion adjusted for inflation for todays dollars which is well below some of the costilest hurricanes that have hit the US including Andrew.

There wasn't much in Maimi in 1926 to destroy, hence the lower damage costs. I am not surprised that Ivan has caused more damage, Ivan was a much larger hurricane than Charley......MGC

Oh, I agree. As Coastal areas continue to develope we'll start seeing Costlier
storms hit the U.S. I should have been more specific, I was curious as
to how much damgage the 26 cane would have caused if it hit in todays
era.

I think they always double the insured losses, so 7.53 is actually 15 Million for Charley and 8.49 million will now be about 17 Million for Ivan. Before Ivan's insured losses were listed at 7.11 Million which ended up being 14.2 Million.

If that same south florida 1926 hurricane hit south florida again in this era now that would be something huge.
