Eastern Atlantic Tropical Summary - EATS OUT on August 21, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/eats20050821.jpg">

Two in interesting features today:

1) Invest 97L continues to look good as it moves westward across the
tropical Atlantic. The system still has good banding features, and is
slowly getting better organized. I would expect this system will
become a tropical depression in the next 24-48 hours.

2) Dry air reduction - the large area of dry air continues to shrink in size
as more moisture emerges from Africa. This area, once very large,
was prohibiting development of waves as they emerged from
Africa. If this trend continues, future waves will have a much better
chance of developing in the eastern Atlantic.

Judging by that dry air, eventhough its not large enough to totally kill this system, it would not allow rapid intensification. So when this thing decides to develop I think it should be slow and steady.

Good discussion . . . especially the part about the "dry air reduction," looks good for things to get going :D
