I don't know HOW in HADES y'all down South and along the coast deal with the HUMIDITY, "I'm DYING" this Monsoon Season, is it ME or is it MORE humid than it's ever been, Steve?? We left at 0730 to cut wood for the up coming winter, finished at 0900 with a FULL cord of ASPEN for the "Pot Belly Stove" and by the time I finished, EVERY STITCH of CLOTHING was SOPPIN' WET, even my SOCKS were WET........then, we came home, split and stacked the load and by THEN, folks, it was ALL over, I came in, took a COLD shower!!

Mid to upper 90s here this weekend...low 90s Monday...but a cold front coming through late Monday and then refreshing low to mid 80s for much of next week!!

It was 99F today...just felt like another really hot day. Basically, I go from an airconditioned house to an airconditioned car to an airconditioned job... I rarely sweat, because I'm not out in it...when I am out in it, I'm usually swimming... I look at the heat, though, through the window quite often...

You cannot last more than a few seconds during the middle of the day here without wanting to just die. It's worse than an oven. It's TERRIBLE.

I would much rather live in the CA desert at 100 degrees than Florida at 85 degrees. In the 5 years I lived in Ridgecrest, CA, I perspired one time and that was because I was digging trenches in 101 degree weather to lay PVC pipe for watering.

Well sir, down here were the Salt and Verde rivers come together, it is a hotter and more humid summer....although today was less humid and more hot (107).

We went out and did some shopping tonight...and it was very warm (about 100 after sunset), but not so bad with the sun down. Keeping it in perspective, when I travel back to my home state of Illinois and the temps are at 83 or higher, and dew points are around 70...I am WHIPPED!

So...whatever else I can call this humidity down here at the bottom of the hill from you, it is not as tough on me as the humidity from the Bermuda high back in the Midwest.

This HAS been a tough summer though...and unlike you, I expect the intense heat to hang around here for at least 8 more weeks.

The hotter, the better. If if gets below 80, that's too cold for me!! I love the "environment" here in the deep south, and while I have experienced other climates, I wouldn't trade this for anything. In my 48 years, I've only lived away from the coast for a total of five years. And everytime I left, I just couldn't wait to get back. Of course, my light bill certainly reflects the fact that I really like my home to be air conditioned too!!

I'm glad your so well acclimated to "southern heat" Ixolib. I for one am a Northern girl by birth and have never gotten used to the intense heat in this part of country. Thank goodness for AC and icetea or I wouldnt make it through the summer!

Yesterday I spent five minutes trying to get the spindle off the weedeater to replace the line and was soaked. It took 45 minutes to mow the yard and I was seeing spots and about to pass out. Humidity is brutal right now.

Indeed people go outside in the summer here in the desert. I remember back in Illinois, if the heat index got above 90, the school district would call me to verify it...and then actually not allow kids to go out to play after lunch or for their gym class.

Here in AZ, we live across from an elementary school, and they spend time outside all year round when activities require it.

Granted, I don't like to do anything outside during midday from mid June to mid September....but otherwise, in short bursts, I don't mind 100+ when the sun is not so intense.

I can't handle colder (50's for highs) weather if it is in conjunction with a string of cloudy days. I'm a warm weather person who lives in a commune called Phoenix where millions of others are too.
