Judah P. Benjamin, U.S. Congressman, Senator, and Confederate Cabinet, a great-great-great-uncle: and every Royal House in Europe (through marriage, descent over 1,000 years to Odo von Wettin in middle 9th Century, and on mother's side, the Ui Niall of Munster from the 5th Century).

My family (father's side) is a cadet branch of the Danish Royal House. That, and $1.19 plus tax, will buy me a bad cup of coffee anywhere. :larrow:

Evidently I and hundreds of others with the name "Cogswell" in their family tree are shirt tail relatives of Princess Diana's family. Somebody with a lot of time on their hands figured that one out.

I'm evidently also a pretty direct relation to Abraham Lincoln, through his mother.

Unhappily, nobody in my family has been famous since. Although my husband's brother's wife's friend is a cousin of Neil Diamond, and it got them concert tickets once.<grinning>

My husband is Fat Joe's cousin (he is a rapper). And Geraldo Rivera is my 3rd cousin. Good thing I am faceless I don't normally own up to that.

No one would believe me if I said who my dad's cousin traced the family line back to....

Kevin Costner

My grandmother on my dad's side is a Costner and her mom's sister and Costner grandmother are cousins. So that would make me his 4 or 5th cousins I believe. At first I thought my dad was trying to pull a fast one on me when he told me this but he introduce to his cousin who did the family background info and it is true. :D

My children's great, great, great, great grandfather was Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy. I am descended(GGGGG GF)from a German Baroin who forsook his barony to marry a commoner.

1LT George Dixon, CSA...skipper of the CSS HUNLEY the night it sunk the USS Houstatonic just offshore from what is now Sullivans Island, SC, which also caused the sub to sink, with the loss of all hands.

What made the hair stand up on my neck was the fact that I was on scene enforcing the waterside security zone the morning of August 8th, 2000 when they raised the HUNLEY and brought her back home; actually got to see her break the surface for the first time in 136 years.
