This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Last night's Euro- awesome to see

#1 Postby hurricanetrack » Wed Aug 17, 2005 11:45 am

Looking at the animation on wright-weather.com of the 00Z ECMEF, at the 500mb level, you can see this HUGE dome of high pressure riding WEST with a tropical cyclone directly under (south) of it. Amazing to see this blob of heat moving westward...with a 5964 high center on day 7. This ain't no weak high pressure area either- it takes up a great deal of the Atlantic. Sorry I cannot post the images, maybe a free site somewhere will show this as well- neat animation to say the least. Interesting days to come....

You can see it here on the 00Z Canadian- though this is at the surface. But you get the idea of a huge area of high pressure moving west with the cyclone to is south....cool!

Sorry for the repeated posts- but this is exciting. Here is the 00Z UKMET from PSU as well...very obvious what is going to take place next week.

Not such a huge ridge, system would have room to recurve.

Recurve I agree with you storms may recurve.

I really wish I could see how strong the Euro depicts the ridge, but many of the models don't show much of a ridge at all in the western Atlantic.
