Lots of potential for development on the models from the W GOM to Atlantic. Lots of moisture across the GOM into the Central Caribbean available to feed development.

Just curious, where did you see/hear this???

Hyperstorm wrote:It's not surprising at all. I mentioned this scenario yesterday on another thread. Based on the years since 1995, we can expect 6-10 named storms BEFORE the end of September. This is all based on climatology since a new active era of increased Atlantic hurricane activity began...

I'm going to echo this comment for those who are yelling that JB is hyping with his forecast. We've seen some SAL seasons over the past decade. This isn't anything unique. However, if you base what we've seen so far in 2005 and add what the past 10 years says climatalogically, we are to expect 9 to 13 more storms by the end of the year, yielding a total of 18-22 storms.

JB isn't hyping here.

Exactly.

He always says something like this everytime the tropics start to get boring just to spice things up.

Can somebody provide a summary of JB's video?

I was beginning to watch it this morning when all of a sudden my computer froze. Afterwards I had to go somewhere and when I came back half an hour ago the video is gone.

Thanks in advance!

I'd like to see reason that Mr. Bastardi is just hyping things up.

I have yet to understand why he's "hyping" when in fact, he's pointing out simple climatology. If anything, his 7-10 named storms may be an understatement depending on how quickly the hostile environment clears up.

(Mind you, these comments come from a person who really isn't a JB fan...)

Same here. I am not a JB fan, but calling for 7 to 10 named storms from mid August through the end of the season is simply forecasting climo. Keep in mind we would normall have only 3 storms by now. He does have an interesting theory on the "pulse". The high frequency of tropical storms in the western pacific of 2-3 weeks ago moved east into the eastern pacific with high incidence now and he believes it will hit the central atlantic just in time for the normal peak of hurricane season.

I probably think JB as the most "hype" oriented person out there and I honestly can't stand him, but I don't think he is really out of line with this predicition. If the environmental condtions start improving, his prediction has a real possibility of panning out.

As I said du, no malice intended. But you gotta build some credibility before you question anyone else's. I try not to bag on anyone without a little backup, but that's just me. I figured you'd get the joke.

I answered your question: Just My Opinion.

You should know what the emoticons are.

I'm beginning to think of you as a troll with a response like that.

Well if you made a mistake thats OK, but since it seemed you re-asked the question I just answered, and inquired about two emoticons which you used, that seemed very suspicious to me.

But if it was a mistake, then fine. Thanks for clariying.
