Looks like a direct hit for me in Thibodaux. Things are just now getting intense. Managed to get my dog to potty by the hardest in between a squall

And this is also a reminder of how Francine gave birth to one of the longest discussions on here to a tropical wave and how its (multiple) initial failures led to the site temporarily breaking![]()

The ICON, Euro AI and Wxman57 pretty much nailed this system 5-7 days out

Radar is improving once more. She might be trying to reintensify.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.
Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

I feel your pain! I have 6 of my own and these problems are rarely mentioned as a hardship of hurricanes lol.

That would seem difficult seeing how brutal the shear is.

Re: ATL: FRANCINE - Hurricane - Discussion
I've been watching the offshore observations, most of which are on quite elevated platforms (maybe 100+ feet up). Highest sustained wind I've seen is around 75 kts with gusts to 92 kts. I think 75 kts (85 mph) is representative of the max winds. Could possibly be a small area of stronger wind. So, it's only a Cat 1. Sort of like Beryl that knocked 2.3 million out of power in Houston July 8th. Just a Cat 1.

Big difference between a strengthening Cat 1 and a weakening one when it comes to damage, I would be very surprised if NOLA saw near the damage that Houston saw.

Having been through several of these... I can't overstate the difference in the eyewall of an intensifying Cat 1 vs. a weakening one. I was really surprised by Beryl.

That’s a mean mesovort in the NE eyewall, radar velocities 115-120mph aloft

We're really lucky it wasn't a major - if it had gotten its act together a day earlier, its probably a major right now.
