Aren't you worried about flooding from rainfall?

I drained my pool 12" and it's just about to start overflowing. But I'm very well situated for water mitigation. This amount of rain is insane. I'm absolutely certain that there is widespread flooding from the rain.

They still show the storm at 105 mph, however I have not seen any reports of sustained wind anywhere near that right now . I’ve seen gusts reported in some places around 100mph, so where are these sustained winds of 105mph? Are they flight level winds?

Lost power in Clearwater like 2 hours ago, still gusting into the 80s and 90s despite the low pressure being halfway to Lakeland already. Back end of this storm had a real kick. Keeping an eye on the carport where I am as the roof tried to rip off already.

Crazy how this thread has basically ground to a complete halt an hour or two after landfall. I guess the rest of the world has work tomorrow lol. You could say many users here are fair weather fans. Zinger! Ok I'll stop.

Power out here in Lake Mary, about 20mi NE of Orlando proper. Unrelenting rainfall and the gusts are getting more concerning by the minute. I'm just worried about the trees over/around the house as we reach our peak winds. Should be an interesting morning tomorrow, I think a lot of the "it wasn't that bad" nonsense will get knocked off once we're able to shed some light on the situation. Anyone have word on the surge situation on the west coast? I have been tenuously following this thread all night, but missed much of the discussion. My understanding is we avoided the worst case surge setup, even outside of Tampa Bay, is that correct?

Update from Auburndale in Polk. Still been windy and rainy, but has quieted down. Eye I believe is just about to head over me right now. Again, fingers crossed it either doesn't get any worse or if it does, it doesn't last very long, especially once the eye passes over fully. Heart goes out to those suffering a lot more from this storm closer to the coast. I wouldn't wish those conditions on anyone.

There's no recon, so this is likely radar derived and an estimation based on reduction after landfall. It's possible there are small pockets of 100 mph sustained, but not seeing it with surface ob's.

Poonwalker wrote:Little update from Seminole. Gustier winds than Irma for me. Still have power. Insane amount of rain. I think that will be the story here along with power outages and some trees down. There is nowhere for all this rain to go. Plus the ground was already saturated.

Edited: I lost power. Looks like Pinellas has about 70 percent without power now.

I'm in Longwood Seminole County as well and I'm getting tropical storm force gusts but nothing approaching hurricane strength. It is raining non-stop though but havnt lost electric.

I haven't experienced any of the strong wind bursts that were possible due to the transition from tropical. Rain and wind has let up slightly. Anyone still awake and tracking? I can't tell from radar if the worst has passed the Orlando area.

Getting hit pretty good in Orlando tonight, 74 mph wind gust just right now at the Int'l Airport.
Transformers popping every where around my neighborhood. For us this is worst than Irma.

Also got to 86 mph per WFTV. I'm 2 miles from there and man is it kicking out there.

Same. Near Gotha. Everything is good here - was honestly just debating staying up for it. I like watching the storm. And keeping a close eye on this pool.

Thanks for the info. I was assuming 2am for the worst before but Milton's been ahead of schedule for everything.

It was record breaking day for FL at least.
