I love Josh and all those guys. If you don’t want to give him any attention probably don’t watch or post about him? I haven’t seen him at all today more on accident though. I only listened to 5 seconds of that so maybe I missed something. I’ve been more tuned in to intense feeds

What makes him dangerous??

Josh has written PH. D. caliber papers on tropical systems. He’s one of the smartest chasers out there. But definitely the “do not try this at home” mantra applies.

Josh's work on Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever, made me follow him. It was our country's worst storm ever --- killing over 10k and inflicting at least $10b of economic damage. The communities in Tacloban and Palo remember him and he's been able to help them: especially with those videos rescuing people during Haiyan's surge and talks on the data he had gathered.

Looks like Tampa got spared again. Their mayor is going to regret telling people they would meet certain death if they didn’t evacuate.

These weakening storms really just don’t pack much punch in the wind department, do they? Cat 1 Beryl had more impressive winds over land from the videos I’ve seen.

I, and a zillion others, I'm sure, can say from experience that Beryl did indeed have impressive winds for a Cat 1 storm. Some of the winds from Milton that they've been showing on The Weather Channel don't look like anything to sneeze at, though.

Little update from Seminole. Gustier winds than Irma for me. Still have power. Insane amount of rain. I think that will be the story here along with power outages and some trees down. There is nowhere for all this rain to go. Plus the ground was already saturated.

Edited: I lost power. Looks like Pinellas has about 70 percent without power now.

Milton's thread on r/tropicalweather is being spammed by idiots writing comments like 'overhyped storm', 'not big deal', 'media manipulation', 'NHC got it wrong',' It's not even a Cat 2. What a joke', etc. Moderators are working overtime to delete these comments.

I can be sure no one writing these comments is on Milton's path.

Do you think that the people in the low lying evacuation zones wouldn’t face certain death if Milton had made landfall in St Petersburg and funneled the max storm surge into the bay? Knowing that such an outcome was well within the margin of error until basically this morning, do feel it would have been a wiser decision to gamble that many lives?

I’ve thought about this throughout the day. I knew there was going to be a point in time where people are going to chastise the Mayor of Tampa for what she said. Tbh it’s a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation. Like you said, if she decided to be indifferent about Milton, and he made landfall at Clearwater, then people would be calling for her resignation for not being urgent enough. I can’t speak for most people, but I rather my elected official be urgent or even slightly dramatic with what’s presented to them than be lax. And I rather them be wrong but have my things to come home to. Rather than them being lax, wrong, and then I have to be rescued or put in a casket because they weren’t being urgent enough and I listened to them.

I went out in a swimsuit and used a broom brush to scrub the pool pavers. Didn’t have to worry about getting cleaning detergents in the pool because it was constantly overflowing. Deck has never been so clean

Auburndale, Polk County here. Has felt like I was riiiight on the edge of most things for the majority of today. Many of the tornado warnings and now just barely on the edge of the flood emergency. Power has flickered a few times. Been decently windy and rainy. Fingers crossed if it gets worse it won't last for very long.

Guys… pray for the treasure coast. That tornado that went thru Vero was completely devastating. The images I’ve seen look horrible. A lot of people lost their homes. I’m not sure if it was the same tornado but one also ravaged thru northern St. Lucie County where it went thru the Spanish Lakes Community. 15 people from that community have been pronounced deceased at local hospital. Others missing. Worst tornados in Florida history?

I agree 100%. Real leaders do what they have to in order to prevent loss of life. Consequences be dammed. And that’s what she did there. She didn’t want anyone to not take it as a life threatening event which it was

And I have to believe that the people who stayed realize how bad it could have been when they see how bad it ended up and will vote for her again. It could have been much worse but it wasn't a washout.
