Are you in Florida?

I am on the treasure coast yes

I'm on the treasure coast too. My advice is to prepare for the worst. We have seen examples in the past of storms heading west-to-east sometimes ending up more east than the models show. I'm really watching how far south Milton gets and how far east it gets before making the NE turn.

I'm noticing that big blob of convection to the NE that is detached from the rest of the storm. Almost Matthew-like.

Does Florida turn all major highway lanes outbound (away from the risk) in emergency evacuation situations on hurricane evacuation routes?

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Florida stopped doing contraflow lane reversal for hurricane evacuations post 2017. The current plans allow for using the shoulders as lanes instead.

You should not be wondering why the NHC moved the cone, the models have all drifted north. I'm not sure where on the coast you are but don't be too complacent. Event with a track just south of Tampa one wobble could ruin someone's day.

Yes I'm aware, i am complacent by nature. If i lived on the coast, i would be gone, i live 15 miles inland, i am good . minus a lake surge event or a tree falling on the house or something else catastrophic... which could happen, which is why i will secure outdoor stuff by tomorrow night :)

Dropsonde supports 933 mb, making this the most intense hurricane of the 2024 hurricane season.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

Looks like the southern component of movement is stopping, at least for now.

Man I stayed up late, got up early, and I’m still having trouble keeping up. 2005 vibes on this one.

The brave people in the AF309 plane are absolute champs (all people in recon planes are), looks like they're gonna go for another center pass.

Breaking constraints, this would be a T7.0 on Dvorak.

Michael was moving Northeast but that is the closest I am aware of. Some of the older hurricanes in the 1960s or before may have but I’ll leave it to some of our historical folks to let us know that.

So I took a look through the Wikipedia list and there have been some mildly west-east tracks when there is a strong northerly component (Ian, Michael, 1924 Cuba) but as far as heading east if not south-east. Don't think there is any climatologically comparable storm. Lenny would be closest but against not in the same area and didn't reach Cat 5. May have to call this Wrong-Way Milton just like with Lenny lol.

Wrong Lane Milton rhymes better  Or Left Lane Milton?

Only problem is that Milton is moving stage right not left
