A pretty interesting invest, it has an 850 mb and 200 mb positive relative vorticity, so what's this? A TUTT with a surface low directly beneath it? what do you call it?

These hybrid-type disturbances are always cool to watch on satellite. IMO this would probably be designated as a subtropical depression in the Atlantic if its winds were higher (only has 15kt winds atm).

past typhoons that formed with the same process that i can remember are Gordon (89) and Soulik (2013)

Wasn't Gordon 1989 the one that formed from one cumulonimbus cloud?
