The small town of Perry looks like it is getting the worst of Idalia.
We may see Idalia maintain hurricane strength all the way to Georgia at this rate.

Idalia's eye passed right over this tiny town, Dekle Beach
Hope they moved the Cadillac to Texas..

That EWRC was really bring the winds down but also turning up the dial on the surge impacts. Idalia will definitely be remembered as a major surge event for this area.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

The Weather Channel showed someone in Cedar Key outside on a boat as they went to commercial break. They said the surge there was 6.7 feet, a record for that area.

The previous record was 6.1 feet during Hurricane Hermine in 2016.

Looking at the radar as the storm comes inland, usually most of the rain and storms are on the NE / East of a hurricane. This storm has most of the rain on the West side of the storm. Not sure why, maybe someone can explain it. Also watching the various cameras set up on the beach areas near landfall, the flooding is every bit what was expected if not more.

I dunno, looking at the JAX radar there's a lot of precip extending out to the GA/SC border

The eye is crossing I-10 now near Madison. Valdosta will probably see Cat 1 winds soon. I’d estimate the intensity is probably 110 or so by now.

Also tornado threat.
We were just issued a tornado warning, and we're almost 200 miles south of the eye. Lots of "training" clouds going on here with lots of nasty weather associated.
