Agreed, I think this at least a 45 knot storm right now.

I agree with the 45 knots and that could easily go up 20 knts in the next 12-24 hours when you consider the cdo and microwave midlevel eye that I seen on a microwave a few hours ago.

Outflow looks awesome! This thing may become a hurricane within 24-36 hours.

I agree as well, how many times have you seen a storm get this look before exploding. at this rate this could be a hurricane some time tomorrow

It certainly has the spin indicating it is the center. Obviously its impossible to know if it is vertifally stacked just off of satellite, but if it is, that would be a sign of some quick intensification coming soon.Image

Microwave from 21z. Note that the resolution is very low.

The structural changes since this morning bode well for Bret’s continued intensification. The whole envelope seems to be rotating nicely, and the deepest convection is confined to the center and the prominent southern band, as opposed to the random sprawling stuff or dueling blobs we often see with systems in a less favorable environment. If this keeps up a hurricane in less than 48 hours is definitely attainable

This is looking like it will go south of St Maarten. Like maybe close to Martinique or St Lucia. Would you agree, @wxman57?

Yes, Martinique looks most likely. Well to your south.

Thank you

Agree on the earlier posts about the core building. Could allow it to ramp up nicely once it attains hurricane strength.

House still ripped in half...I'm out here on Sanibel caretaking our Ian-damaged house...Don't need an anomalous hurricane belt cyclone right now...Good news is Windstorm insurance gave us total loss last week after nearly 9 months of stressful worrying...

Convection over the center is growing and has good banding.

New consensus is farther south of NHC track and a lot faster than NHC. TVCN track is now south of Martinique. NHC's track seems to be about 12-18 hrs too slow for reaching the islands. I still think it will weaken considerably as it nears the islands, down to a remnant low south of the DR.

Wow. At least on visible satellite, Bret looks like a very healthy TC. Very curious to see how things progress down the line, especially given its small, compact structure.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Do you expect an impact for the US and British Virgin Islands?
