Things will pick up if Lee stays strong as it heads north.

Personally I prefer quality of posts to quantity - if there's nothing new to remark on I don't need to read 20 posts saying nothing of consequence just for the illusion of discussion.

What??? You don't crave the posts about the
Annular Cat 5 pin hole eye hurricane
speculation???
:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Or the 2-page-long debate about whether an EWRC is starting?

Looks like its around almost 1 degree of longitude! If that eye clears out it'll be around 100km/60 mi correct?

Inner eyewall is dead, basically just a remnant cirrus plume now. Outer eyewall should begin to intensify some now

If Lee ever actually does finish this stupid EWRC and clear out the new eye, it's going to be huge and plausibly using the a-word will actually be correct.

Looks like the inner eyewall refuses to let go completely. Another small hot tower popping up.

112kt FL in NE quad, but not very high SFMR, overall blend seems to support around 95kts. Inner eyewall much less pronounced than earlier though.

Probably has one more chance to intensify but it will need to contract that huge eye once it clears. The pressure gradient isn't very tight so I'm not sure it will be able to bring the windspeeds up a whole lot but I wouldn't be surprised to see some decent pressure drops throughout the day

The radius of FL hurricane force winds is going to be huge. There's no longer a double peak; there's just a first peak and, to the NE, very little decline.

Wow, now that's an eye. Last dropsonde in the eyewall reported 81kt gusts at the surface but, of note, 121kt gusts at about 1000ft.

The Meso GOES-16 show a pin hole eye forming as it repairs the damage done by shear and dry air. Could see it intensifying up a bit today.

Latest recon reports an 80 mile outer eye that's closed and a 45 mi inner eye. I think that "pinhole" is just the dying spiraling remnants of the inner.

High centered off Belize will cut off that trough near South Carolina so we might see some ghosts?

Yeah it's absolutely just the inner eyewall refusing to quit. It's been seemingly stuck like this for a while now. Eventually the outer eyewall should finally strangle it. With an eye this large, it may keep more intensity as it travels North.
