Yep. Noaa's Miss Piggy departs from St Croix at 3 PM EDT.

St. Croix?...oh wow.....I thought all NOAA flights originated from Biloxi?....

The AF Planes come from Biloxi & sometimes Texas (One was moved to Texas because of Ida), NOAA Flights also can be moved to various locations, like St. Croix (Mentioned here) & Miami

They have a few planes based in St. Croix in order to have easier access to storms east of the Antilles

Miss Piggy’s flight from St Croix to Sam is gonna be one long flight…

Both majors in both hemispheres — Sam and Mindulle — are struggling with internal dynamics and EWRCs today. However, I think Sam has a slightly better structure. Both have good outflow/banding structures, but Mindulle’s core is way more of a mess.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Sam has healthy outflow to the northwest, any shear is out of the southwest.

Sam is showing a well developed core, a good build up around the eye and 2 bands fanning out. However the south west side of Sam still a bit bare but there is convection forming a band in that area as time progresses.

Already seems to be building back the W ring rather quickly on latest 1-minute imagery.

Also, to my untrained eye, SW shear already seems to be lower than last night, or at least doesn't have as much of an impact on Sam now.

As cycloneye mentioned they moved them to St Croix when storms are east of the Lesser Antilles.
AF recons' home base is Biloxi MS.
NOAA's recons' home base is Lakeland FL.

CDO W Ring basically Complete again, CMG is also starting to show up elsewhere on the CDO, could an early sign of development of a CMG ring, but only time will tell if that's the case . . .

The eye is about to clear out again. The cloud tops are symmetrically increasing in height, indicative of a very stable and intensifying eyewall. It is unlikely undergoing an EWRC IMO.

Sam seems to love alternating between warm eye and cold cloud tops.

Edit: Man, I'm already spending all my time watching Sam, and it will still be around with us as a major for 5+ days...

Sam is developing a complete CMG CDO Ring combined with a OW Eye . . .

Sam's probably gonna end up like Gabrielle 1989 tbh:

Does anyone know what ACE Gabrielle produced?

Tropical Tidbits is back!!!!!! Just in time to watch the cloud tops around the entire eye plummet in temperature  Was not expecting that and am now eating my words from earlier. Would guess category 4 is just around the corner if it isn't there already.
