ATL: ISAIAS - Post-Tropical - Discussion

Man this thing moved through fast.

It's sunny and clear here south and east of Raleigh and calm.

3.9" of rain according to the Davis weather station out back....rain predictions were spot on. Min Barometric pressure 1004.4 at 3:26 AM today (Johnston County, SE of Raleigh). Max rain rate was 5.28"/hr at 2:13 AM.

Thankfully it was quick!

Despite the mostly non-event in Florida, Isaias was hardly a joke. It punched the Bahamas and now the mid-Atlantic and East Coast. It's definitely been a memorable tropical storm to follow along, and it looks to hand out a little more damage racing its way off to the northeast. It may still be warm core (or at least partially warm core), but it's definitely taken on the appearance of something subtropical which makes sense since it's north in the subtropics. Morning visibles show that Isaias will pass right over or just east of Philadelphia.

Yeah, north and northeast of the circulation in some of those bands, they just keep firing off. I don't wonder if we don't end up getting 20-30 tornadoes out of Isaias before it's done. I'm not sure how many have been confirmed already, but there have been a couple dozen warnings overnight and this morning.

Saw a mobile home park got hit.
Major structural damage reported in a couple other locations.

Dover, Delaware just got a tornado on the south and west side. There was a report of a structure collapse in the Kent Acres neighborhood on the south side. The debris on CC waned as it moved north of Dover but became pronounced again around Townsend and Middletown several miles NNW of Dover.

Dumping rain here currently...upped totals to 3-4 inches with 5 inches locally...I'm just amazed at how fast it's going to be over. 10-20mph sustained winds which is nothing. If this was a slow mover the flooding potential would be astronomical.

Is anyone seeing any sustained wind near 70 mph? I can find some 40-50 mph sustained wind in some coastal obs, but nothing close to the 70 mph in NHC's latest update.

I got hit by this tornado. Neighbor's big willow tree went down. It was a wall of rain and wind in a circular fashion, so I think I was basically right under this.

That sure doesn't look like damage from an F1. As most people know, hurricanes generally spawn F0 or F1's.

No. Those winds have to be aloft even if they maybe are only a few hundred feet up.
