Funny how that works. Florida had its deflector shield going strong for Isaias. My guess last week that he would miss Florida was right!

At least the storm is picking up speed now so it wont linger and cause more problems. However baroclinic forcing will help cause some intense winds for those in the warning zone, despite the cooler water and land ahead.

2nd band of rain just coming through the Greenville NC area. Miserably humid outside right now - 85 degrees with 80% humidity. Pressure at 1021mb. Luckily, I get to go to work in this mess, should get off right in time for the worst to be hitting our area.

Looking like a hurricane on the Charleston, SC radar.

Stay safe out there. Glad Ocracoke, NC evacuated as early as they did.

Current tornado threat is well off shore, in fact on the SE side of the CoC.
Chances increase tomorrow when Isaias gets close to the triple point.

Very high humidity here with temps close to 90. Dew is 78. Seeing the first signs of rainbands to my south here, pretty nasty band heading N towards D.C.

Recon doesn’t fly out until 7:30... :( Would they upgrade this based on estimate, or will they always wait for recon. ?

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

Looks like crap on IR. Admittedly looks pretty good on radar. This storm has been a walking contradiction its entire life. Be glad when this is over lol

The long term residents don't like to leave, thats for sure.

My in-laws are on Connecticut and are excited about the storm. They have a basement to take cover if tornadoes are in the area.

Living in a 'bubble' in Key West, I don't really know how the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coast residents are reacting to the storm. I did see a New York poster concerned about surge because Isaias forecast to go through at high tide. Being a full moon also, I do rhink the surge may surprise some folks.

Edit to add Charleston, SC radar link.

I believe this is a hurricane now. Tons of hurricane force velocities 7000 feet up. Looking great on radar.

While cloud tops have warmed a bit on IR recently, symmetry seems to be improving. Furthermore, velocity returns on radar continue to be impressive. Seeing some 80-85 mph readings under 3000 meters now. Might just need one more round of convective bursts to push this over the edge to a cat 1 (if it isn't one already), but at this point, impacts should largely be the same. Have to wait for recon to confirm anything at the surface. This is going to pack a punch up the East Coast. Hope everyone is prepared!

Barely. Not until 7:30. Not sure how much use it would be at that point.

Had a good rain band pass through Emerald Isle. It is still humid but not nearly as hot.

The radar beam, coming from the west side, is likely being attenuated by the heavy precip on the west side of the center now. That means it may not be penetrating to see squalls east of the center.

Cloud tops are warming and it’s getting a little elongated, but the lower levels seem better. Maybe it makes 75-80...
