That should change with the change in direction and lessening shear. Looks like it’s trying to start another recovery now.

It appears on satellite that the SSW to NNE push has begun. Would expect to see the intensity pick up very soon.

Regardless of landfall the media reporting for the Carolinas north is going to pack the stores and gas stations. Hopefully all the ATS members that were waiting got out early this AM.
The power companies haven't trimmed branches back over the power lines in many areas so there could be outages for up to a week or more on the east side of the storm track.

Not looking too hot this morning. NOAA recon's SFMR showing surface winds no higher than 50 knots.

I usually do my grocery shopping on mondays, and I probably should have gotten it done earlier this week, but I didn't. Hopefully it isn't too crazy when I go today. As of now we have a tropical storm watch and are predicted to get 4 to 6 inches of rain. Don't have to go anywhere tomorrow luckily, I'm sure flooding is gonna be a problem.

It took a hit from shear/dry air but the cloud tops are ever so slowly trying to cool again.

Okay. I lied about the pizza. But, now that I have your attention (maybe)...

Good luck and, if you can, enjoy the wonders of nature!

This should be made a sticky.

Amen!

Lets hope all goes well over the next 24 hours. Going to be at best, a very wet one.

Not looking vertically stacked at the moment. Would be hard to reach hurricane intensity before landfall if it doesn't start to ramp up.

Yeah, it typically does but it's to be expected because many that were posting are Floridians. Most of the time they're busy taking down what they put up or clean up afterwards but this time is different, thankfully. It'll pick back up some but usually not to the pace it was. Now if this were strong cane, they'd be on it for sure. But it is weak and not as fascinating to watch either. I'm sure we all can agree on that. We hate the destruction a cane leaves behind but we are all here because of the fascination we have with anything weather related. Anywho, I'm dreading the wind here east of Raleigh NC (Benson I95 corridor). Our power goes out during thunderstorms so we'll be totally surprised if we have power the entire time. But we have our generator ready. On top of that we live down a private dead end road with 6 other homes and the way the wind blows during these storms it never fails, everyone's trash/debris ends up plastered against our chain link fence every stinkin' time and we get stuck cleaning up someone else's crap. Oh and yay I just remembered, trash pick is in the morning. I bet they'll still put their cans out tonight and guess what will happen? You bet! All that will be plastered against our fence line too. Welp, thank you for listening to my TedTalk today. I gotta get outside and help hubby make sure our livestock will be properly sheltered from the wind and rain tonight. Over and out for now

Isaias just can’t get over that strong TS hump. Maybe gets to 75mph officially, but that will be in a very small area NE of center. The best it looked was during Hispaniola interaction.

It’s fatigue, when you track closely for days, you need a break. If FL hadn’t been a threat and it was just a Carolina storm I would be more involved. Post storm cleanup is exhausting. :D

Yikes, what happened to Isaias over the last 8 hours? Convection is not nearly as impressive and recon found a pressure up to 1001 mbar.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Looking like crap (technical pro-met term) on satellite and recon this morning. Not sure it can get its act together and become a hurricane in the next 12 hrs before landfall.

Over his lifetime, Isaias has really proved hes not much of a morning person....

Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

For sure, especially storms like this where it is so hard to forecast. We aren't even to the peak of hurricane season either, plenty more grey hair for us Floridians in the future.

The life of a small storm, they can do quickly wind up or down. This has been the story of Isaias’s whole existence.
