Miami mayor declares state of emergency

Sound's like he's not taking any chances with Eta

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

NDG wrote:Definitely the strength of Eta as it tracks across S FL will depend how quickly it gets tropical characteristics again once shear drops over it after it passes Cuba. But my bet that tracking over the warm gulf stream it will be a quick strengthening with such low shear environment.

Call me crazy, but I don't like the idea of Eta slowing to a crawl for half of Monday in the vicinity of the Keys...

Better to be safe than sorry they're likely going to have some type of impact whether it landfalls or not

Still clearly sheared as all hell, but looks worlds better than it did just 3 hours ago. If it keeps the convection going I foresee steady strengthening until it reaches lower shear

NHC did say it should become a TS later tonight so it’s right on schedule.

Dang, per that color satellite loop, Eta literally looks like it's trying to make this face...

btw it also looks as if both of the main blobs are about to collide, might blow up like crazy later tonight.

As expected, TS watches up for SFL, from the Keys, on both coasts, up to and including Lake O.

The word "hurricane" only appears once in tonight's discussion, referring to the hurricane hunters. NHC backing off the possibility that scenario.

We can handle this. I don’t foresee Eta being all that bad for South Florida.

If you consider power outages a prolonged period of winds gusts over 55 mph and 10 inches rain no biggie more power to you.
