Too far apart from Marco and/or Marco being too small for it to happen?

If this does start to happen it would really through of the forecast.

I don’t think they’re close enough and I think you’re right Marco is just too small and weak to really effect Laura.

There is no fuji effect happening, its actually a very rare event that gets more thought than it deserves. Bottom line is the gulf will provide excellent conditions for hurricane development....Galveston to New Orleans should be preparing for a 3+

Probably too risky. They are flying at 10000-11000 ft which is the same height as the tallest mountains on Hispaniola.

With 8:00 advisory just now the forecast cone seems to indicate BOTH storms aiming for LA coast.

Marco on Tues and Laura on Thurs.

Unbelievable if that happens.

One for the record books for sure.

That’s right. I totally forgot about that. Probably not the best idea with no visibility .

Unfortunately, the discussion seems to hint that further west adjustments are coming.

I can’t remember hurricanes hitting the same area within 48 hours if it ever happened before. I thought it was nuts when we had Jeanne and Frances weeks apart. A few days ago someone was mentioning how unlikely it is to get hit twice in a year or two and then this.

If they’ve got to go somewhere I’d rather they scatter than to think they’re both going to devastate the same general area.

So Laura takes the southern path over less favorable terrain...and somehow still looks fine. Not fair, lol.

NHC is forecasting some areas in Cuba and Hispaniola to get 12 inches of rain. There must be a lot of flooding going on down there.

Yeah, those of us that experienced 2004 thought that was hairy!!

After Charley we couldn’tbelieve another storm so close to us...then another one flew by, then another....but they didn’t all come in within just a few hundred miles of each other...

Not sure if it's happened anywhere globally, but I think Klotzbach said yesterday that it had never happened in the Gulf before.

The historical track in the tweet is the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.

I have a question about this trough. It's still there, and pretty obviously so in the moving slide. Is it still forecast to be moving out soon?

It will be positioned NW of Laura, lifting out over TX and providing perfect ventilation for strengthening in the Gulf.
