Yeh, tons of reports on Twitter of power and internet outages from New Orleans

I'm in direct communication with a few people in new orleans. Some didnt even lose power - no one that I know is reporting any damage other than some small limbs down. Said weather is rapidly improving.

They appear to be on the W side of the eye and I bet the worst winds in a very small area to the E of the eye. I suspect the coastal areas will fair ok, it’s the interior areas that will get TS force winds hundreds of miles inland and knock down huge trees not use to TS force winds and cause major problems.

My cousin reported they’re in the eye now. She went through Michael in Panama City two years ago. They’re all okay, but she said it was pretty scary for a while. Power’s our and there is a good bit of damage around.

Wind is really lying down here in Cut Off. Looks like it’s pretty much over for us. Thank goodness this was quick it would have been a lot worse if we had hours and hours of that wind

Those people reporting the quick easing in conditions are in the eye and don’t realize it...

Shocked at how much more of a rain event than wind event this has been in Mandeville.

As I typed that big time gusts. It’s nasty out right now.

Nah, it doesn't particularly surprise me. Just makes me more sad than anything. You'd think people here would understand more than most, but apparently not.

However, even if you DON'T believe in climate change at all, you should care about the NOAA's chief scientists being replaced/overridden by political appointees, I don't see how you can defend that. That's going to have real consequences for people in the path of storms like Zeta.

Do searches on Twitter for " Zeta power out " "Zeta lights out" "Zeta internet out" And click Latest

Oh heck just search Zeta Latest and scroll.

This is the second storm that someone pops up and acts like some random bit of info I shared is a Lie or something! WTH would someone get out of lying about something like that.

So you listen to those "few people" in New Orleans you are in direct communication with, and ignore all the rest. No skin off my back!

I wasnt implying the entire new orleans area didnt have damage or power outages. 100% chance that's gonna happen with this kinda storm. Just saying my friends fared well. Jesus, relax.

Mark Sudduth is currently in the eye at Eden Isle, Louisiana, just southeast of Slidell. I believe they are trying to deploy a weather balloon.

Lots of power on in that eye shot, hopefully it was minimal effects.

Have there been hurricanes that have tracked faster than Zeta is forecasted to now that it's inland?
