Looks like landfall intensity is 95kt, although one can argue that strongest winds are to the east (not southeast) and haven’t been sampled in this final pass before landfall.

Yep, looks like it is coming in on the west side of timbalier island
Means the city will probably get some of the center. Wild.
I agree Steve y’all are probably gonna get stronger winds than Katrina on this track. Well eye wall just got here. I estimate wind gust right now is 75-80 wow hit quick!

I think recon might’ve missed the strongest winds. They’re more of in the E quadrant instead of the SE.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Hmmm. that means the surge is trapped in the middle really well, it's going to be a quick wall of water to hit land, probably higher than the 11AM projections.

I hope recon turns east and can get a quick pass before landfall. It might be too late though

Re: ATL: ZETA - Hurricane - Discussion
Everything is lined up for an official landfall with an intensity of 95 kts very shortly. Now did Zeta peak briefly as (or is it even currently) a C3? In my completely unprofessional opinion, I suspect yes.

Well, if this isn't a Category 3, we now know for sure Sally was not.

Still getting gusts in the 60+ range but has let up some from awhile ago. Sustained is probably around 35-40 but these gusts are really rocking lol

Yeah I think it definitely was was Cat 3. I think this one has a better case for being upgraded post season than Sally does, but I think both of them were briefly Cat 3s

Yeah, that's kind of what I expected. I just came in to take off my converses because my porch faces east, and that's where it's coming from. Getting it good here, but not to TS yet though a couple gusts into the 30's.

Zeta is firing one last burst dark pink burst of convection to the North as it makes landfall within the next 10 minutes
