No double wind maxima and pressure holding steady. All indications suggest intensity stayed flat near 140kt

Re: ATL: IOTA - Hurricane - Discussion
Seems that it fell back to 135kt or so. Not much supporting 140kt anymore

Interestingly 12z HWRF also doesn’t show any further intensification upon landfall. Could be due to cooler waters left by the upwelling from Eta?

There reaches a point where a TC meets its MPI... And I think you're looking at it. Iota is an incredibly powerful and dangerous hurricane.

Shear is forecast to increase to around 15 kt just before landfall, that shouldn't be enough to weaken it significantly, but it probably will put a lid on significant further intensification.

Until we get data from the NW quad, that’s a safe estimate to go with.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Humidity increasing in eye
Up to 56%
Previous pass at 46%
Last recon was 26%
Could be the signal for an onset EWRC.

Let's see on the dropsonde results is . . .
That was at FL, which equates to around 132 kts at surface.

Looks like they're going for a NW pass on their way out of Iota.

Those earlier drops had wind at the surface (such as 920 with 33 kts of wind = 917 mbar). This was 919 with negligible wind.

True, wind can mess up dropsondes. There is one expected for eyewalls
