HWRF lately seems to be very trigger happy for EWRCs

Christmas songs on the radio and a rapidly intensifying Category 5 in the Caribbean do not and should not go together...but here we area.

This year has made zero sense.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Isaias: doesn't become a major hurricane
Storm2k: hey, maybe the i-curse has ended
2020: oh you sweet summer child, you ain't seen nothing yet

Cool, thanks. Sure hope no one rushed a Domino's pizza onboard before take-off :18:

Don't blame the tropics. Blame the retailers for starting the sales push earlier.

The Dec 1 official end date is there for a reason.

Admittedly, Isaias was still destructive in its own right...

Nearly $5 billion in damages and 18 deaths is bad enough on its own, but apparently 2020 didn't think that was "good enough".

Is the lightning count 61, 81 or 91?

Could be starting to see leveling off in intensification.
The core continuous to warm, BUT the cold pool has significantly warmed.

I believe this will be the shortest S2k thread for a Category 5 storm that impacts land since 2005:

Lorenzo '19: 29 pages
Emily '05: 45 pages
Rita '05: 53 pages

Iota '20: 66 pages
Katrina '05: 111 pages
Maria '17: 153 pages
Michael '18: 219 pages
Wilma '05: 282 pages
Ivan '04: 352 pages
Matthew '16: 546 pages
Irma '17: 622 pages

(Isabel '03 did not have a contemporaneous thread, or if it did, it is now deleted.)

This season is absurd. Just the 30th named storm of the season making landfall as a Cat 5.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I hope that's the beginning of a moat, NE of the CoC.
Need to see if Recon reports a RH measurement of 26% or higher in the eye at 700mb.
