The dry air wrapping into the center has not only disrupted any intensification, it has also held the firehose of deep moisture farther east, keeping it focused on the panhandle. it seems like a firehose has been aimed from the Yucatan channel northward and has failed to gain any longitude despite the center of the system continuing on to the northwest.

Odd to see most of the convection/moisture on the west side. Does this mean Houston will get some flooding rains?

I expect the eastern side to fill in. With pressures this low, warm gulf air i think will overcome the dry i think.

Looks to be getting worse on RGB satellite. I would say it is weakening.

It was very calm and no rain for a few hours this mom. Now we are getting heavy downpours and bouts of strong wind. I'm about 15 miles away from New Orleans. Don't let your guard down...yet. Florida seems to be of utmost concern, as well as possibly Alabama and Mississippi as I've heard on weather forecast. These are forecasts I've heard on TV and just opinion and observations.

Not sure what's going on with movement but definitely see a nasty feeder band setting up SE of New Orleans.

Also a good band to the NW of the center that will likely affect the Houston area later tonight.

It looks like it is just sitting there.. If it wasn't sucking up so much dry air, it may have had a chance to strengthen. That dry air though is insane and all up in the core of the storm.

Yeah we just all at work got blasted with a tornado warning. Nothing is over until it is. I think people should expect tropical storm conditions and events when they are under a tropical storm warning. Individual experiences will vary.

Also, the center looks like it's hooking back eastward in another cyclonic loop which was forecasted by NAM 12km yesterday though slightly farther south.

Are you sure that isn't just another one of the many swirls in the center?

Yep looks like it's moving eastward now.

Pretty much all the weather is towards the lake charles area. And then again towards Alabama/Florida panhandle. Still nothing in Thibodaux for the past 12 hours. Nothing even showing on radar for our area. Doesn't even feel like we are under a tropical storm warning. Just a normal day here.

Yeah I think so overall center is/was when I typed that moving east though there was also a hook swirl spinning in the circulation. I meant to say NAM had this (and yet 1 more) loop farther south not that the loop was farther south.

I have looked up what XTRP is on the models. From what I understand it reflects the direction of what the storm should be taking based on computer data. Did I understand this wrong? I was looking at the spaghetti model.

It would be the direction the storm would take on it's current heading in a straight line.

I live about 5 minutes outside of Nederland, Tx and I've had steady kite-flying wind in my backyard all morning. Overcast skies and now it's just starting to lightly rain. Maybe we'll see an inch or two before this is over. :)

The "XTRP" model is shorthand for "Extrapolation" - it's basically the direction it will go if it followed its current heading for the remainder of its life at the time of the model suite. It's mainly for demonstration only.
